Grab sees 50% surge in expat delivery orders, launches new AI features

Grab has released new data showing that delivery orders from expats and digital nomads in Thailand have increased by over 50% in the past year. The company’s internal data shows that Thai food is a top choice, with fried rice, chicken rice, and Thai tea being the most ordered items. The use of GrabBike has also risen by 30% year-over-year.

Chirakit Kwangsukstith, Senior Director of Deliveries at Grab Thailand, said this growth is driven by the country’s appeal to foreigners, citing its low cost of living, strong infrastructure, and rich culture. A recent report notes that Thailand is home to 5.3 million non-Thai residents, an 8% increase from 2019.

To cater to this key customer segment, Grab has introduced a new “One Click Translation” feature. Powered by AI, it can translate menu descriptions and merchant details into nine languages, including English, Chinese, Korean, and Japanese. This not only improves the user experience for foreigners but also helps smaller local businesses reach a wider customer base.

Additionally, Grab has launched the “Grab Expat Pass”, a discount package specifically designed for expats. The pass offers savings of up to 2,000 baht on various Grab services, including food delivery, ride-hailing, and parcel delivery.
