GULF-Singtel-AIS Alliance Lands $200M for Sustainable Data Center

In a landmark transaction for Southeast Asia’s burgeoning digital economy, GSA Data Center 01 Co., Ltd. (GSA DC) has successfully secured a THB 7.3 billion (approx. US$200 million) green loan to fund the development of a state-of-the-art, sustainable data center in Thailand.

The deal marks a significant milestone for the strategic alliance between three industry titans: GULF Development (GULF), Singtel, and Advanced Info Service (AIS).

The financing, one of the first of its kind for a data center in Thailand, underscores the immense confidence in the nation’s digital future. It will support the construction of a 25.6-megawatt hyperscale data center in Samut Prakan, a strategic location just south of Bangkok.

The project is poised to address the escalating demand for data processing and storage driven by the rapid adoption of AI, cloud computing, and digital transformation across the region.

This groundbreaking partnership creates a powerful synergy by combining the distinct expertise of its members. GULF brings its unparalleled leadership in energy and infrastructure development, ensuring a reliable and efficient power supply—the lifeblood of any data center.

Singtel contributes its extensive experience in developing and operating world-class digital infrastructure across Asia, while AIS provides its dominant domestic telecommunications network and deep access to Thailand’s enterprise market.

The financing was arranged by a consortium of seven leading financial institutions, with UOB serving as the Deal Coordinator, Green Loan Coordinator, and Mandated Lead Arranger. The group also includes the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Bangkok Bank, Kasikornbank, Kiatnakin Phatra Bank, Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation (OCBC), and Siam Commercial Bank.

More than just a feat of engineering and finance, the GSA DC project is fundamentally committed to sustainability. The facility will be built to meet the rigorous standards of LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold certification.

This commitment goes beyond a mere label, translating into tangible environmental benefits through advanced cooling technologies for superior energy efficiency and sophisticated water management systems to minimize consumption.

By securing a green loan, the GSA DC alliance is setting a new benchmark for developing scalable, energy-efficient digital infrastructure. This project serves not only as a critical foundation for Thailand’s digital ambitions but also as a blueprint for how the region’s technological growth can be achieved in harmony with environmental responsibility.
