Zuellig Pharma’s THB 130 million investment in pharmaceutical distribution center in Thailand

Zuellig Pharma, a leading healthcare solutions company in Asia, has announced a strategic investment of over THB 130 million to expand its temperature-controlled pharmaceutical distribution center located in Bang Sao Thong District, Samut Prakan, Thailand. The investment will strengthen Zuellig Pharma’s pharmaceutical logistics infrastructure and capabilities in alignment with global Good Distribution Practice (GDP) standards, and will reinforce the company’s footprint in health-focused distribution across the region.

The facility’s expansion is set to play a pivotal role in advancing the accessibility and reliability of critical healthcare supplies throughout Thailand. Equipped with advanced infrastructure and high-precision temperature control systems, the center ensures that medicines and vaccines maintain full efficacy and integrity during storage and transport, reducing the risk of degradation. It will boost treatment confidence, and supporting rapid delivery to hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies across the country.

“This investment marks a significant milestone in our journey as an integrated healthcare solutions company. The expansion of our facility in Samut Prakan will enable us to drive meaningful growth in our distribution business, and its elevated capabilities will allow us to reinforce our commitment of meeting growing healthcare needs in Thailand and beyond,” said John Graham, CEO of Zuellig Pharma.

The newly expanded facility will have a storage capacity of 1,800 pallets and will feature a dedicated, state-of-the-art low-temperature freezer room that can maintain environments between -20°C and -30°C, tailored for storing sensitive pharmaceuticals including biologics, vaccines, and specialty medicines. It will also incorporate smart defrosting systems and automated temperature monitoring to maintain product integrity across the supply chain.

“The expansion of our pharmaceutical distribution center reflects and reaffirms Zuellig Pharma’s purpose of making healthcare accessible,” said Pucknalin Bulakul, Managing Director of Zuellig Pharma Thailand.

“Through the strengthening of our pharmaceutical-grade logistics capabilities in the region, we are committed to ensuring that lifesaving drugs and healthcare products can reach patients on time and in their intended condition, supporting better patient outcomes.”

To ensure consistent quality and safety, the facility will feature a smart temperature control system integrated with automated alerts, validated under Computer System Validation (CSV) protocols. This includes:

  • Emergency preparedness that is supported by a dedicated backup generator
  • Fire safety addressed through a globally certified NFPA 13 fire suppression system
  • Building structure that meets FM 4800 and FM 4881 standards to minimize fire risk and protect sensitive products from heat and moisture.

As part of its efforts to maintain sustainable operations, Zuellig Pharma Thailand also uses eZCooler, a reusable cold chain packaging solution that ensures temperature consistency for healthcare solutions throughout transit, while minimizing waste and carbon emissions. Additionally, the facility is equipped with energy-saving inverter air conditioning, fire-resistant insulation, and automated LED lighting systems, which together contribute to a measurable reduction in carbon footprint annually.
