Suvarnabhumi Airport ranked among world’s most beautiful by UNESCO

Suvarnabhumi Airport, managed by Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT), has been recognized by UNESCO as one of the six most beautiful airports in the world for 2024.

Adding to this accolade, the airport’s Midfield Satellite 1 (SAT-1) has been nominated for the prestigious Prix Versailles award in the Airports category by The Prix Versailles Selection Committee, in collaboration with UNESCO. The official results will be announced on December 2nd, 2024, at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France.

According to Karom Polpralklang, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office, UNESCO’s recognition highlights Suvarnabhumi Airport’s outstanding architectural design, cultural identity, and commitment to passenger experience and environmental sustainability.

The award criteria assess both exterior and interior beauty, creativity, innovation, and integration with social and environmental contexts. SAT-1, a four-story building with two basement levels, boasts a sprawling 216,000 square meters and 28 contact gates. Its design seamlessly blends Thai cultural elements with modern architecture, creating a memorable experience for travelers.
