True Corp. deploys mobile tower to restore communications in flood-hit Chiang Mai village

True Corporation has dispatched emergency crews and a mobile base station to a remote village in Chiang Mai’s Mae Chaem district after severe flooding and landslides cut off power and crippled communication networks.

The crucial intervention at Ban Pang Ung aims to restore vital communication links for residents and support government rescue operations in the hard-hit area. The primary challenge was a widespread power outage caused by torrential rains, which rendered the main telecommunications tower inoperable.

In response, True’s technical team transported an emergency power generator to the site, successfully bringing the main tower back online to provide essential voice and data services. To further bolster the network, a “Cell-on-Wheel” (COW) mobile station was deployed to increase signal capacity and ensure stable coverage during the crisis.

This rapid deployment is part of a broader, proactive strategy as the Northern Meteorological Center has issued a severe weather warning for August 30 to September 1. Forecasters predict heavy to very heavy rainfall across the northern region, raising the risk of further flash floods and landslides.

True Corporation has activated a 24/7 “war room” at its AI-enhanced Business and Network Intelligence Center (BNIC) to monitor the situation across all at-risk provinces. The company has also readied emergency assets, including 4WD vehicles, flat-bottomed boats, backup batteries, and additional fuel reserves, to ensure technicians can access and maintain service in even the most challenging conditions.

The company is coordinating closely with national agencies, including the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) and the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), to support the overall relief effort and help alleviate the impact on affected communities.
